CTRCA Consumer Resource Hub
In Texas, your hairdresser needs a license, but your roofer doesn’t.
This page is packed with resources to help you stay informed, avoid scams, and make smart, confident decisions when hiring a roofing contractor.

Texas law doesn’t require roofers to be licensed, and Central Texas experiences some of the country's most intense storms.
That combination creates the perfect opportunity for scammers and out-of-state storm chasers to flood the region after every major weather event.
These bad actors knock on doors, make big promises, take deposits, and disappear.
Without state protections, homeowners must know who they’re hiring. That’s exactly why the CTRCA exists.
Get the facts before you sign anything!
These quick guides are built to help you hire smart and avoid common scams.

Our contractor search tool helps you find a vetted roofer in your area.
Every member listed in our directory has been reviewed for insurance coverage, reputation, and professionalism. You’ll only see companies that meet our standards.
You can filter by zip code, service type, and more, so whether you're in Austin, Waco, or a rural county, you’ll find a qualified contractor close by.

As a regional chapter of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), CTRCA proudly supports RCAT’s voluntary licensing program.
Licensed contractors must prove they’ve operated in Texas for at least three years, carry proper insurance, and pass rigorous exams covering roofing expertise and business practices.
These contractors have voluntarily invested time and money to prove they meet a higher standard.
They don’t just talk the talk… they’ve volunteered to be held accountable!
